Rick's Favorite TV Shows
The first season of the show was by far the best show on broadcast
television. It's completely gone downhill ever since.
It's great to see this back on the air again. I own a bunch of seasons
on DVD. The biggest problem I found with the series way back when it
first aired was that it got moved around, postponed, preempted, etc. so
much that I never knew when I was supposed to watch it. Unfortunatly Fox
hasn't changed the game plan any now that it's back on the air. The
broadcast schedule is so scattered with reruns it doesn't even make it
onto my calendar so I usually end up forgetting about it on Sunday nights.
So I'll likely just continue to buy the DVDs as they come out.
I got hooked when I borrowed the first two seasons on DVD from a friend of
mine. The plot moves along way too slowly though. I watched the third
season as it aired and it was painfully slow. I'd recommend sticking with
the DVDs. So far I'm really liking the final season.
I remember when this show used to be called The X-Files. :)
I'm not really into it that much but I like that it has a good mix of
stand-alone episodes and big plot movers.
I think this is a fabulous show. I like a mix of serious plot intensive
shows (like Lost and Heroes before they broke it) and one-shot episode
shows. Castle is the latter. For the most part each episode stands on
its own but they do weave in an occassional bit of ongoing plot. I don't
have to know what happened last week and I'm not waiting to see what
happens next week. It's just good solid stand-along entertainment.
This is another show that I fear is going downhill. It used to be an
entertaining little one-shot show but now they're just trying to put way
too much story arc into it and I'm starting to lose interest.
I had trouble getting into BSG and I'm having even more trouble getting
into Caprica. I watch it when it shows up in my Hulu queue but it's more
of an after thought "oh, a new Caprica, I guess I could watch that."
